Broome County is partnering with the land bank to demolish the former Vestal Nursing Center, which has been abandoned since the flood of 2011.
According to county officials, it will cost $650,000 to acquire the property. The total cost of the project will be $1.5 million.
The funds will come from the county, land bank grants and other state and federal grants.
The abandoned property has caused neighboring properties to deal with increased rodents and a decrease in property values.
The county legislature is expected to vote on the funding for the project on Friday.
The goal is to demolish the buildings by the end of this year.
