More money could be coming to the area to assist with flood recovery for any regions affected by the storms of 2011. A public hearing was held Monday night for community input on changes that were made to the New York Rising Action Plan. Governor Andrew Cuomo recently announced that the United State Department of Housing and Urban Development has allocated close to an additional $2.1 billion in relief efforts, bringing the funding total for disaster recovery to over $3.8 billion. How much of that additional money will be coming to Southern Tier communities has still yet to be decided. The state has made changes to its storm recovery Action Plan in hopes to bring help more quickly to communities in need.
