State Senator Candidate Fred Akshar met with several local farmers to discuss farming in the Southern Tier. Brought up at this meeting were some of the things troubling local farmers, including the impact of taxes as well as overregulation. There are 3,000 farms in the four counties that comprise the 52nd district of the state senate. These farms collectively are said to be a $180 Million a year industry. Akshar says that QUOTE ” Supporting farmers and employers is key to getting the Southern Tier’s economy back on track” END QUOTE. Fred Akshar is running against democratic candidate Barbara Fiala for the 52nd District State Senate seat in November.
