A flood watch is in effect in our area now through the weekend. The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued the watch for portions of New York and Northeast Pennsylvania. Rain is expected to move in Saturday morning and end in the evening. The rain combined with the high temperatures in the low 50’s will cause the snow to melt, adding close to another inch of water to the one and a half inches of expected precipitation. This could result in minor flooding, and ice jams in waterways across the area could also result in some flooding. Anyone working or driving in areas prone to flooding should prepare to take action if flooding should develop.
