The New York State Labor Department released its preliminary December 2014 unemployment rates and its bi-monthly job and labor report yesterday. The national unemployment rate has dropped to 5.6 percent, the lowest level since the start of the recession. Locally, unemployment is down to 6.1 percent across Broome and Tioga Counties. That’s a seven year low for December.
