1913 Suffrage Parade Reenacted in Binghamton

The Broome County Representatives and the Broome-Tioga Suffrage Anniversary Committee joined together to reenact the 1913 Suffrage Parade that took place in Downtown Binghamton. The parade was to celebrate the women’s right to vote granted 100 years ago in the state of New York, making it one of the first states in the nation to make the change. Assemblywoman, Donna Lupardo, played a key role in the parade on Saturday.The community joined the parade, acting as the suffragists and their male sympathizers. Most of the people who participated in the parade dressed up in the era’s proper attire. Lupardo said she is excited to see downtown Binghamton representing the movement that changed part of New York State’s history.
