The City of Binghamton announced the winners of its “One Dollar Healthy Homes” initiative on Monday. The program sought redevelopment proposals for homes or land acquired by the city through foreclosure. Each winner will receive $100,000 in Restore NY state grant funding according to city officials. A selection committee reviewed proposals from 18 applicants and chose five winners. The winning applicants, who purchased each parcel of land for $1, are expected to gain final approval on Wednesday during a City Council meeting. The winners include various project proposals, including some homes being built as the winner’s primary residence, while others, such as a properties on Liberty Street and Hancock Street, will build two-family residences for rental housing.
