The City of Binghamton is looking to save on energy costs, and the latest plan could save the city millions. Binghamton is looking to convert nearly 7,000 street lights to LED bulbs to cut down on energy use and costs. The bulbs will also be seven times brighter and require less frequent replacement. The new bulbs are part of a $7 million project that will also see thousands of water meter replacements and updates. Funding for the projects will come from bonds, but the city is also applying for state grants to help offset the costs.
