A parking garage in Binghamton has topped the city’s list of safety hazards cited by a local engineering firm. Delta Engineers, Architects and Land Surveyors raised concerns to the city in a letter about the garage, saying there are several structural problems with the building, including a stairwell the firm says should be closed immediately. Work began last week on garage renovations suggested by Delta, with an expected cost of $25,000. The project includes stabilizing some structural features and installing scaffolding over portions of the sidewalk to protect pedestrians from potential loose masonry on the garage’s exterior walls.
