Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell said in a statement Thursday that the New York State Trooper was justified in shooting 36-year-old James Giacalone of Glen Aubrey in Binghamton Tuesday evening. The suspect was shot in the face after hitting the trooper with his car during a police chase. The trooper suffered a leg injury and has been released from hospital.The suspect is currently receiving medical treatment at a Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
