Police were called to a report of a person being held at gunpoint on Wednesday, only to find that the call was just a hoax. Dispatchers initially reported the gunpoint situation at 34 Clarke Street in Binghamton just after 11 o’clock Wednesday morning. Multiple police officers arrived on the scene, and found that no one was in any danger, and a man was just trying to obtain ransom money for himself. The Binghamton Police Department says that the man was a drug addict that had called his grandfather, claiming he was being held at gunpoint and needed his money. From there, the grandfather called the police. New York State Police also responded to the call. At this time, no charges have been filed.
