The City of Binghamton is making it a little easier to pay for parking, as they are installing 50 digital kiosks throughout the city this week. Instead of accepting only change like the old parking meters, the new kiosks can accept credit cards and dollar bills. Mayor Rich David says the project will cost close to $500,000, but he expects it to pay for itself within two years. The kiosks are for multiple spots and will replace the city’s 800 parking meters. Drivers will stop, pay for their parking space, and put their receipt on their dashboard. The city started with five kiosks last year, and they generated enough revenue to place them around the city. The cost of parking will remain the same.
