New York State Police have identified a body found on Friday in the Chenango River. State Police rescue boats were searching the river near the Chenango Commons Golf Course in Binghamton around noon on Friday, and have now identified the body found in the river as that of 57-year-old Steven Moran of Greene. Moran had been missing from Chenango County since December. According to his family, Moran suffered from bipolar disorder. His body was identified with the use of dental records, and an autopsy showed that he had died by drowning, complicated by hypothermia. A New York State Police SCUBA team was assisted at the scene by state forest rangers and the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office. At this time, investigators say there are no signs of foul play.
