Despite an earlier decision from the state’s Department of Transportation, Chenango Street in Binghamton will be open for most of the summer. The DOT initially planned to close the heavily traveled street from 4 to 6 months, during construction around southbound Interstate 81. They decided this week to limit the closures to four separate projects, which will have Chenango Street closed for about 4 days instead. The DOT expects the street to be closed from May 6 to May 9 for a partial demolition of I-81.
