There was an equipment fire inside of International Paper of Conklin yesterday afternoon. By the time fire departments arrived, employees of the paper plant had extinguished most of the fire, leaving little more than smoldering embers and smoke for fire officials. There were no injuries reported, and the plant suffered minimal damage. A total of five fire crews responded, including: Kirkwood, Five Mile Point, Conklin, Hallstead, and the Town of Binghamton.
