A fire on the roof of the Holiday Inn Arena was contained by members of the Binghamton Fire Department. On Tuesday, the department responded to the scene where construction crews were working on the roof. The construction crews had been using a torch to seal the seams of the roof when some of the wood beneath the seams caught fire. The fire reportedly smoldered for a short period of time before fire crews were able to reach the roof and put out the flames. According to officials, extensive measures had to be taken to eliminate any chance of re-igniting due to the high occupancy of the building.
