A Friday night standoff with police results in five people facing charges. Around seven o’clock Friday, Binghamton Police surrounded 120 Walnut Street, and after an hour, five people inside the home surrendered. The standoff was a result of a previous investigation by the department’s Community Response Team. No further details were made available at this time. Facing charges in the incident were 23-year-old Josie Valdez, 20-year-old Joel Valdes-Pica, 36-year-old Jennifer Gonzales-Soto, and 27-year-old Jeffrey Sanchez-Pica, all of Binghamton, and 40-year-old Wilfredo Pica-Torres of Johnson City. They are facing charges ranging from having outstanding bench warrants, to assault in the second degree.
