Jury Selection Continues in Aaron Powell Trial

Jury selection for the double murder trial of Aaron Powell began on Thursday. Five of the twelve jurors were chosen on Thursday. The day began with about 75 potential jurors in the courtroom. Hours were spent on one-on-one conversations with each potential juror to determine if they were able to participate, and at the end of Thursday nearly 45 possible jurors remained. The jury is being selected to hear the case of 40-year-old Aaron Powell who is accused of killing his estranged wife and her friend, and is facing two counts of murder in the second degree and one count of murder in the first degree. The remaining jurors will likely be chosen today in Broome County Court. The trial is scheduled to have its opening arguments begin on Monday.
