Jury selection is expected to begin today for the trial of Aaron Powell, the Binghamton man charged with killing his wife and her friend last year. Powell is accused of killing 35-year-old Christina Powell and 24-year-old Mario Masciarelli back on March 22nd of last year, and in May of last year he pleaded not guilty in Broome County Court to charges of fist-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder. Judge Joseph Cawley will be presiding over the trial, which will likely take about two weeks. Powell could be sentenced to life in state prison if convicted of the charges.
