Hundreds of people gathered at Susquehanna Valley High School yesterday to remember the four members of the Tarbox family who died in a fire on Thursday. Nicole Tarbox and three of her children, Evyn, Mya and Mariah, died after being trapped inside their home on State Line Road in Vestal. Nicole’s son, 15-year-old Shawn Tarbox, jumped out a window and reported the fire. His father, also named Shawn, was working in Pennsylvania at the time of the fire. A wake for the family was held in Binghamton yesterday. Following the wake, a public ceremony was held in the high school auditorium to remember the fire victims. Speakers shared their memories of the family members, as friends wrote down additional memories that were added to a collection at the door. Photos and visual slideshows lined the school hallways. Over 67,000 dollars has been raised so far through a GoFundMe page for the Tarbox family.
