Details on a new opioid addiction recovery initiative in Broome County were announced yesterday. Broome County has partnered with Fairview Recovery Services, United Health Services, the Broome Opioid Addiction Council, and the Broome County Sheriff’s Office to roll out the recently announced Sheriff Assisted Recovery Initiative.

As a part of this initiative, those addicted to opioids and looking for help can either go to the sheriff’s office, or call the sheriff’s office at 778-1911, Extension 1. A sheriff’s deputy will then transport that individual seeking help to either the Addiction Crisis Center on Court Street in Binghamton, or the UHS location on Mitchell Avenue in Binghamton.

If interested, individuals seeking help combating their addiction will then have the opportunity to work with a 12-step volunteer.
