A jury found 42-year-old Nigel Smith of Endicott, guilty on five charges yesterday, including 2nd degree murder. Smith is said to have killed Bretnie Owens of Binghamton, during an attempted burglary back in June of 2013. The prosecution relied heavily on phone records and witness testimony in the presentation of their case. The defense worked hard to discredit the prosecution’s witnesses, citing histories of drug use. Smith is now scheduled for sentencing on November 17th.
