Iberdola USA, the parent company of NYSEG, is currently investigating a breach in their online security. The company announced Tuesday that last week an individual gained unauthorized access to their online recruitment site. The site is used by internal and external candidates during the recruitment and hiring process at Iberdola. The site has since been secured, and does not involve any customer data. Approximately 5,100 individuals that have provided personal information through the site may be affected, if they completed an online application or were offered a position since January of 2007. The company is offering any affected people a year of free credit monitoring as a safety precaution. Iberdola USA has contacted the FBI, along with computer forensics experts, to assist in their investigation.
