The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal car accident involving a pedestrian. It occurred on Front Street in the town of Dickinson around 8:35 yesterday morning. Delores Gajdik of Binghamton, was crossing Front Street on foot when she was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle was being operated by Colin Tarr of Johnson City. Deputies said Tarr was opening a beverage inside his vehicle and had taken his eyes off the road. When Tarr directed his focus back to the road, Gajdik was in his lane of travel, and he struck her. Gajdik struck the hood and windshield of the vehicle resulting in serious bodily injury and trauma to her head. She landed on the roadway unconscious. A nearby person stopped and began administering CPR on Gajdik. She was transported to Wilson Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The accident remains under investigation. No tickets have been issued and no charges are anticipated at this time.
