Monday marked the beginning of trout and salmon fishing season. State officials say the waters are cold, but fishable, to begin the season. Anyone planning on going fishing is urged to be cautious and careful around icy banks and stream beds, as the temperatures remain low in the early parts of spring. The Department of Environmental Conservation will stock the state’s lakes and rivers with over 4 million fish this spring. Nearly 2 million New Yorkers fish, which generates about $108 million in tax revenue for the state.
