A barn fire which killed several barn animals remains under investigation. The call for the fire went out around 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon for a property along Hardie Road in Conklin. A barn with animals inside caught fire, killing ten beef cattle, along with as many as 40 chickens and 50 chicks. Conklin firefighters were assisted on the scene by Five Mile Point, Kirkwood, and the Town of Binghamton. Investigators are yet to determine the cause of the fire.
