National Pipe & Plastics has announced that they will begin production at their new facility in Endicott by the end of this month. The move cost the company an estimated $30 million and has been a process three years in the making. The company will be moving from Old Vestal Road in Vestal to a former industrial facility at 15 Mills Avenue in West Endicott. National Pipe & Plastics officials say that all of their equipment should be moved to the new facility by June. The new site include a 220,000 square-foot facility on a 45-acre parcel of land, making it nearly three times larger than the current plant in Vestal. The move does not come with any expected increase in jobs, as the local workforce is expected to stay at 175 employees. They do hope to increase their production volume in the new facility. In 2012, between the Vestal location and its manufacturing plant in North Carolina, National Pipe & Plastics produced 170 million pounds of pipe, and this year they expect to produce about 300 million pounds. The increase would call for them creating about 100,000 additional pounds per day at the Endicott location.
