St. Casimir’s Roman Catholic Church on McKinley Avenue in Endicott is set to close its doors after its final mass on Sunday. At 11 AM on Sunday, Reverend Matthew Wieczorek will deliver his final mass after serving 56 years as an ordained priest. Without a replacement, the church is preparing to merge with St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located four blocks away on Hayes Avenue. St. Casimir’s Church was founded as a parish for Endicott’s Polish-speaking community and was incorporated back in October of 1928. The future of the church at 212 North McKinley Avenue is unclear at this time.
