An Illinois fugitive on the run for three months was finally caught in Broome County after a tip from police in Illinois. 23-year-old Jeffery Blunk was apprehended Friday afternoon. Broome County Sheriff David Harder says a tip from police in Illinois led local authorities to Blunk’s location. Neighbors were evacuated and traffic was stopped as SWAT team officers and the bomb squad investigated an apartment on 3410 Luther Street in Endwell. Gas was shut off as a precautionary measure. Once inside, the sheriff says homemade bombs were found. Neighbors are now back in their homes and most of the roadways in that area have reopened. The apartment where Blunk was found will be closed off until the investigation is finished. The sheriff says there were also indications of methamphetamine production in the apartment. As of now, Blunk had been charged with criminal possession of a weapon. The investigation is ongoing and police are expecting more charges. Blunk is currently being held at the county jail without bail.
