An Endwell man was charged Sunday after the Broome County Sheriff’s Office received a tip through their Facebook page. 32-year-old David Curtis was charged with petit larceny and criminal mischief related to the theft of a phone from a Verizon Wireless store.

The sheriff’s department posted a surveillance photo to its Facebook from the Verizon store on Main Street in Endwell after deputies began to investigate the theft of the $600 phone. The tip allowed deputies to locate Curtis and charge him. According to a press release, the phone had been damaged by Curtis’ attempts to remove the phone’s SIM card.
