A public hearing is scheduled for this evening on turning the former Broome Developmental Center into a drug addiction treatment center. Syracuse Behavioral Healthcare would operate the facility. The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services sent a funding award letter to Broome County in November for $2.3 million for next year. The Broome County Legislature must approve the plan. The public hearing is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Broome County Office Building, on the 6th floor, in the Legislative Chambers.
