Questions arise as to whether or not a Candor native has enough valid signatures submitted to the New York State Board of Elections to run in a Republican Primary against Senator Tom Libous. Denver Jones of Candor originally submitted 1,700 signatures to the Board of Elections, however, after some concern; the board is double checking the signatures for validity. They have already verified that 970 of the signatures are valid, leaving Jones 30 shy from the 1,000 signature requirement. Jones is meeting with the Board of Elections today to fight the case. Tomorrow is the deadline for the judge to determine whether or not Jones has enough valid signatures to run as a candidate in the primary.
