The Johnson City Village Board passed a resolution to approve a casino in the Southern Tier, and specifically gave their endorsement to the proposed Traditions Casino at Traditions at the Glen. Village leaders say that a casino bordering the village will boost the economy and provide more jobs to the people of Johnson City, and they also hope that the casino could provide a population boost to the area. At this time, the state is expected to announce the winning bid for the Southern Tier casino in November.
