An elderly man is found dead after a fire breaks out in his kitchen. According to the Johnson City Fire Department, the fire started in the kitchen at 114 Albany Avenue. The department responded to the blaze at 12:45 Sunday afternoon. The fire marshal said they found the owner of the home, an elderly man, dead on his kitchen floor when they arrived. Firefighters are not releasing the man’s name or age yet. They say he may have been trapped in the kitchen by flames, but the cause of his death is still under investigation, as is the cause of the fire. Firefighters said they were able to extinguish the fire within minutes and contain it to the kitchen.
