It took a brief struggle and an officer sent to the hospital, but a Johnson City man has been put behind bars. Johnson City Police observed 20-year-old Tyquan Gumbs operating a vehicle on Grand Avenue in the village, but they knew his driver’s license had been suspended. Officers stopped Gumbs, who then got out of his car and ran. He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. During the arrest, an officer suffered a separated shoulder and was taken to the Wilson Hospital Emergency Room. Gumbs was arraigned in Village Court and sent to the Broome County Jail.
