The Johnson City Fire Department now knows the cause of an early morning fire at 37 Stearns Avenue and says it was accidental. It was caused by disposing smoking materials into a plastic flower pot on the porch. A person living at the address called 911 just before 4:30 this morning. This, after they woke up to popping sounds on the porch, and saw the fire. Johnson City’s first fire crew on the scene saw smoke and fire from the porch, and that’s when Broome County 911 Center called a second alarm. Firefighters say no one was injured
