The Horseheads man who was struck by a train in Union on Friday night has been upgraded from critical to serious condition in the hospital. 21-year-old Travis Cliburn was walking along the railroad tracks behind 635 Dickson Street after 11 o’clock Friday night when he was hit by a Norfolk Southern train that was traveling west to Buffalo. He was then transported to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City before being transferred to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. On Monday, Cliburn’s condition was improved to serious. He suffered a skull fracture, severe bruising to his torso, and a partially severed arm. At this point police are speculating that Cliburn may have been leaving the Tim McGraw concert at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open. State Police are still investigating.
