As this week is the 6 year anniversary of the 2011 flood, many in our area are following Hurricane Irma quite closely, even though it’s quite far away. The monster storm is currently a Category 5 with sustained winds of 185 miles per hour and gusts to 220 miles per hour. Some models have winds reaching 200. Irma is currently on a track that will take it towards Puerto Rico and the Florida Keys with a possible turn northward. The point at which Irma turns may be important for our area. Models should be able to provide more detail in a few days. In the meantime, we recommend reviewing your home and business preparedness plans, or start to work one out. A portable radio and fresh batteries should be on the top of your list.
