Broome County has added 13 new corrections officer positions into its 2016 budget. These positions were added for two main reasons. The first is that, 10 additional corrections officers are going to be needed to man posts within the new dormitory which is currently under construction at the jail, and is expected to be finished in June of next year. Three additional officers are expected to be needed when food preparation begins to be turned over to inmates after the county outsources it’s food preparation service staff.
