There will be no change in fire coverage for Town of Union residents. According to town officials, they were approached last week by the Endwell Fire Department with a proposal to cover the areas of Westover and Fairmont Park for about half the cost that the Johnson City Fire Department had been charging to cover those areas. In response, the Johnson City Fire Department renegotiated with the Town of Union, and dropped their yearly rate from $240,000 a year, to $150,000 a year. The Johnson City Fire Department is comprised of both full-time fire and EMS officials on staff 24/7.
