NYSEG customers will see a small surcharge added to their bills to keep a nearby power plant in business. The added fee will cover the operating costs for the Cayuga Generating Facility. The Tompkins County plant was set to shut down in January, but NYSEG will keep it running for at least another year by adding the surcharge to customers’ bills. Residential customers are expected to see an increase of around a dollar per month.
