A local village’s police chief was relieved of duty over the weekend. And he says he doesn’t know why. Village of Port Dickinson Police Chief Sean Crouse was told Sunday he is suspended with pay pending the outcome of an investigation. Crouse confirmed the information Tuesday, saying he was told of the suspension by the village’s Police Commissioner and Trustee Richard Felo. It’s not yet known if the investigation is being conducted internally by the police department or by an outside agency. Broome County District Attorney Gerald Mollen said Tuesday he would neither confirm nor deny whether his office was investigating Crouse. He also said he wasn’t privy to Crouse’s suspension. Crouse said he wasn’t given a time frame for the investigation. He also wasn’t sure who would be leading the department in his stead.
