Rock blasting will be taking place this week at Prospect Mountain. Blasting will take place today through Friday, weather permitting, with a blast scheduled each day at 11 o’clock. State Police will be initiating slowdowns fifteen minutes prior to each blast on sections of Interstate 81 and Route 17. There will also be closures on Chenango Street beginning this morning until Thursday evening. Drivers and pedestrians will not be able to access Chenango Street between Moffatt Avenue and Sturges Street during those times. Crews will be replacing the I-81 South/Route 17 East bridge over the street.
