New York State Senator Fred Akshar announced on Wednesday that 24 libraries throughout the 52nd District will each receive $6,000 in funding, totaling $150,000. The money will be used for year-round children’s programs, book purchases and technology upgrades.It was made available through the BOOKS Program, which was created by former State Senator Tom Libous in 2000. The program was designed to reward elementary through high school students for time spent reading.Included on the list were the Apalachin, Berkshire, Candor, Coburn, Cady, Spencer, and Waverly Libraries.
