SUNY Broome’s latest budget would call for a 2.9 percent increase in tuition. The school’s current budget proposal is for $52.4 million, and would call for an additional $58 more per semester from each full-time student. The current rate for in-state students is $1,977 per semester. About 40 percent of the college’s revenue comes from tuition, and officials for the school say that cuts due to state aid made an increase unavoidable. The Broome County Legislature is holding a public hearing on SUNY Broome’s proposed spending plan tonight. The legislature is expected to vote on the budget later in the evening.
