The Agency recently received two top honors from the state’s Economic Development Council. The group that operates Broome County’s Industrial Development Agency and Local Development Corporation received the Large Project of the Year Award for their work to secure a $100 million Dick’s Sporting Goods Distribution Center for the Broome Corporate Park. The Agency worked with the state to provide the company with a $30 million incentive package to build the center locally. The sporting goods chain hopes to open the facility in 2018 and eventually hire more than 450 people. The Agency also won top honors in Economic Development Marketing for their website www.broomeisgood.com. The website was developed as part of a broader marketing initiative, “Broome County…a good life.” The Agency received their awards during the EDC’s annual meeting in Cooperstown last week.
