Tuesday marked the final farewell for New York State Police Trooper Christopher Skinner, with thousands paying their respect at the fallen trooper’s funeral in the Town of Union. Governor Andrew Cuomo was among those who visited the area to honor the 42-year-old trooper who was killed during a routine traffic stop Thursday on Interstate 81 when he was struck by 60-year-old Almond Upton of Melrose, Florida. Flags across the state were at half-staff on Tuesday to honor Skinner, at the request of the governor. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church on Reynolds Road, and the church’s 1,900 seats were filled, with family, friends, and law enforcement ranging from Alaska to Florida in attendance.
