A tractor trailer struck another car along Interstate 81 early this morning. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident just before six o’clock. The tractor trailer was carrying milk and reportedly crossed the median on 81, just past Exit 6 for Chenango Bridge. The truck was traveling south when the driver lost control, crossed the median, and continued into the northbound lane, striking a car. The truck landed on its side, spilling its load of milk on the highway. The driver had to be extricated from the tractor trailer, but was conscious. The driver of the car that was struck was also conscious, and the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. The New York State Department of Transportation had one lane of traffic closed while it cleared the scene. Chenango Fire and Chenango Ambulance also responded to the crash.
