Local musicians came together Sunday to help one of their own. Keyboard player and Vestal native Tom Sorber recently had a cancerous brain tumor removed. Sunday’s Tom Jam Benefit at the Choconut Inn in Friendsville, PA, featured a group of local bands playing blues, rock, and and soul music all day long. Proceeds from the event will assist 63-year-old Sorber with his medical treatment. Coordinators for the event say it was remarkable the amount of musicians who did not know Sorber personally who showed up for the event, just because they found his story inspirational.
