The Binghamton University head wrestling coach has received a public reprimand and penalties for misconduct during the Division 1 Wrestling Championships. Matt Dernlan is being penalized by the NCAA for not attending a mandatory administrative meeting prior to the championship on March 20th in Des Moines, Iowa. Two days later, Dernlan was arrested and charged with public intoxication. The committee issued the public reprimand, and also fined Dernlan $500. The NCAA defines misconduct as any act of dishonesty, unsportsmanlike conduct, unprofessional behavior, or breach of law. Following his arrest, BU suspended Dernlan for two weeks without pay.
